Course overview

Coron's deepest wrecks lie beyond standard recreational depth, and the PADI Deep Diver specialty unlocks them by training you to dive safely to 40 metres. Across four dives on sites such as the Akitsushima and the deeper sections of the Olympia Maru in warm 27-29C water, you learn deep-dive planning, gas management and how to handle the effects of depth. You finish qualified for dives to 40m.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to a maximum of 40 metres
• Manage your air supply and no-decompression limits at depth
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Use safety stops and contingency planning for deep dives
• Monitor buddy contact and gas reserves carefully
• Account for colour loss, light and temperature changes at depth

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver (including the Deep adventure dive) or Advanced Open Water
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician
• Good buoyancy control and at least basic logged-dive experience

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Planning & first depths

   Knowledge development and deep-dive planning, then two progressively deeper dives covering narcosis awareness and gas management.
2. Day2
   To 40 metres

   Two further dives reaching the 40m limit on deep wrecks such as the Akitsushima, with safety-stop and contingency practice, then certification.
