Course overview

The PADI Deep Diver specialty extends your certified limit to 40 metres and teaches you to dive deeper sites safely, ideal for the channels and outer reefs of Baa Atoll in the Maldives. Across four dives near Dharavandhoo you learn deep-dive planning, gas management and how to recognise and respond to narcosis.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to a maximum of 40 metres
• Manage gas supply and no-decompression limits at depth
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Monitor time, depth and ascent rates closely
• Plan safety stops and contingency procedures
• Handle deeper, sometimes current-fed atoll sites

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver
• Comfortable with buoyancy and dive planning
• Diver medical clearance form (physician sign-off if needed)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Planning & first deep dives

   Deep theory plus the first two dives progressing in depth with planning and narcosis-awareness exercises.
2. Day2
   Deep dives to 40 m

   Two further dives reaching toward 40 metres on suitable Baa Atoll sites, practising gas management and contingencies, then certify.
