On the Perhentian Islands, the PADI Scuba Diver certification serves as the entry-level Basic Diver option, qualifying you to dive to 12 metres under the supervision of a PADI professional. It is a great fit if you are short on time, covering the first portions of the Open Water course in the warm, calm bays off Long Beach.

The PADI Basic Diver pathway

The PADI Scuba Diver rating is the entry-level subset of the Open Water Diver course, qualifying you to dive to 12 metres under the supervision of a PADI Divemaster or instructor. It can be upgraded to full Open Water Diver by completing the remaining sections and dives.

Where you'll dive in Perhentian

Training takes place in the sheltered, shallow bays off Long Beach and Coral Bay, where warm water around 27-30°C and gentle conditions during the March-to-October season make an easy learning environment.
