Course overview

The PADI Advanced Open Water course on the Perhentian Islands takes you to 30 metres and broadens your skills across five adventure dives, including the required Deep and Underwater Navigation dives. With wrecks, the Pinnacle (Tokong Laut) and reefs full of turtles and reef sharks on the doorstep, it is the perfect place to log varied dives and gain experience fast.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct dives to 30 metres
• Navigate accurately with natural references and a compass
• Apply deep-diving procedures and gas planning
• Build skills across three elective adventure dives such as wreck or night
• Improve buoyancy, awareness and dive planning

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Advanced Open Water) or 15
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or qualifying certification
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Navigation and electives

   The required Underwater Navigation dive plus an elective such as Peak Performance Buoyancy on a local reef.
2. Day2
   Deep dive and electives

   The required Deep dive toward 30 metres on a site like the Sugar Wreck, plus a further elective, then certification.
