Course overview

Extend your depth limit to 30 metres and sharpen your skills with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course at Kovalam on the Kerala coast. Over five adventure dives in the warm Arabian Sea, including the compulsory deep and underwater-navigation dives, you explore the Kovalam reef while building real diving experience. You finish certified to dive to 30 metres and qualified for many specialty courses.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to a maximum of 30 metres
• Navigate underwater using a compass and natural references
• Manage deeper dives, including gas planning and narcosis awareness
• Try three elective adventure dives such as peak-performance buoyancy, night or fish identification
• Improve buoyancy control and trim
• Build confidence through varied, guided open-water dives

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Advanced Open Water) or 15
• PADI Open Water Diver (or a qualifying entry-level certification)
• Basic comfort and skills from entry-level training
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Deep and navigation dives

   Complete the core deep dive (to 30 m) and the underwater-navigation dive on the Kovalam reef, with related knowledge reviews.
2. Day2
   Elective adventure dives

   Finish three elective dives such as buoyancy, fish identification or night diving in the Arabian Sea, then certify.
