Course overview

Build on your Open Water certification with the PADI Advanced Open Water course in Cairns and open up the deeper, more varied dive sites of the Great Barrier Reef. Over five adventure dives, including a Deep dive to as much as 30 metres and an Underwater Navigation dive, you gain confidence and skills at outer reefs such as Flynn, Milln and Thetford. It is the natural next step and a prerequisite for the Rescue Diver course.

The PADI Advanced Open Water pathway

The PADI Advanced Open Water course does not require an exam; instead you complete five adventure dives including the mandatory Deep and Underwater Navigation dives. It extends your depth limit to 30 metres and is a prerequisite for PADI Rescue Diver.

Where you'll dive in Cairns

Advanced training in Cairns is run on day trips and liveaboards to outer Great Barrier Reef sites such as Flynn, Milln and Thetford Reefs, where deeper bommies, walls and coral gardens host reef sharks, turtles, Maori wrasse and potato cod across the June-to-November high season.
