About king cruiser

King Cruiser was a passenger car ferry that struck Anemone Reef on 4 May 1997 and sank with no loss of life (all 561 passengers and crew were rescued). She lies upright on the sand between Phuket and Phi Phi.

The deck is at ~12 m, the sand at ~30 m. The bridge and several cargo areas are penetrable. Marine life is excellent — schooling barracuda, batfish, scorpionfish on the hull, lionfish in the shadows, occasional leopard sharks on the sand alongside.

Advanced Open Water is recommended for the deeper sections. Day boats from Phuket include her on Phi Phi + Shark Point itineraries year-round, though best diving is November to April.
