Fusiliers are cousin to snappers — similar body shape but adapted for mid-water plankton feeding rather than reef-edge ambush. They form dense schools of hundreds, racing across reefs in coordinated waves to feed on plankton blooms.
Common species: yellowtail fusilier, blue-and-gold fusilier, scissortail fusilier. They're the dynamic background that gives Maldives channel dives, Komodo current sites and Andaman wall dives their visual energy.
