Christmas Tree Worms

Christmas tree worms are sessile tube-dwelling marine worms that embed in living hard coral and extend two spiral feeding crowns (the 'Christmas trees') above the substrate. Each crown is covered in fine cilia that filter plankton from passing water.

Their colour range is dazzling — red, yellow, blue, orange, white, neon-purple, often two colours on the same individual. The pair of spirals always face into the current and can retract into the tube in under a second when threatened by shadow or touch.

Reliable across every coral-rich destination: Andaman, Maldives, Bali, Komodo. They're patient subjects until disturbed — slow approach, no fin-kick into the coral, and they remain extended for the entire dive.
