About blennies

Blennies are small bottom-dwelling reef fish with cartoonish big-eyed faces and a habit of sticking their heads out of tiny holes in coral. Common species include the rockskipper, fang blenny (mimics cleaner wrasses to bite client fish), bicolor blenny, and the smiling lawnmower blenny.

They have the kind of expressive faces that make macro photographers fall in love — wide forehead, big eyes, sometimes feathery 'eyelashes'. Each individual holds a small territory and uses the same coral hole for weeks or months.

Reliable at every reef destination as a macro target — Andaman, Maldives, Bali, Komodo. Lembeh and Anilao have the highest species diversity.
