Course overview

Earn the SSI Wreck Diving certification in North Malé Atoll and learn to explore sunken wrecks safely. The atoll has accessible reef wrecks encrusted in coral and patrolled by reef fish; across four dives you practise survey, mapping and penetration-line techniques to 30 metres, opening up one of diving's most atmospheric specialties.

What you’ll learn

• Survey and map a wreck safely
• Use lights and reels for limited, safe penetration
• Manage hazards such as entanglement and sharp edges
• Plan wreck dives with appropriate gas reserves
• Navigate around and inside wreck structures

Prerequisites

• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent
• Minimum age 15
• Completion of a diver medical questionnaire; physician sign-off if required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Pre-dive theory

   Complete the knowledge development and dive-planning material before the in-water sessions, online or at the dive base.
2. Day2
   Theory & survey dives

   Cover wreck theory, then make your first dives surveying and mapping a coral-covered wreck.
3. Day3
   Penetration & assessment

   Practise reel and line work for limited penetration, complete the remaining dives and certify.
