Course overview

Deepen your understanding of how diving works with the SSI Science of Diving specialty in Phuket, a comprehensive course covering the physics, physiology, decompression theory, equipment and dive environment behind every dive. Largely academic, it gives you the knowledge professionals rely on and counts strongly toward continuing education in the SSI system. Optional dives let you apply the theory on the Andaman Sea's reefs.

What you’ll learn

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• Open to certified divers (and as a knowledge course, all levels)
• SSI Open Water Diver recommended for any application dives
• Diver medical clearance where applicable

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory deep-dive

   Work through the physics, physiology and decompression modules with instructor support.
2. Day2
   Equipment, environment and assessment

   Cover equipment and the dive environment, complete the final assessment and any optional application dives, then certify.
