Course overview

SSI's Stress & Rescue course in Cozumel turns you into the dive buddy everyone wants, training you to spot stress early and manage emergencies on drift sites like Columbia and Palancar. You'll rehearse tows, surface management and unconscious-diver recoveries in the warm, clear Caribbean before live scenarios.

What you’ll learn

• Identify the build-up of diver stress
• Carry out self-rescue and buddy assists
• Locate and recover an unconscious diver
• Provide in-water rescue breathing and tows
• Coordinate a team emergency response

Prerequisites

• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent
• Current React Right CPR/first-aid rating
• 15 years minimum (12 for junior)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & stress focus

   Study stress recognition and practise approaches in shallow water.
2. Day2
   Skill circuits

   Repeat tows, recoveries and surface management on a calm reef.
3. Day3
   Scenarios

   Run full rescue scenarios in mild Cozumel drift.
