The SSI Open Water Diver course on the Perhentian Islands earns you a globally recognised certification to dive to 18 metres, learned through SSI's flexible digital system in some of South East Asia's best-value waters. With theory, confined-water sessions and four open-water dives in the warm, calm bays off Long Beach and Coral Bay, you become a fully independent certified diver.

The SSI Open Water Diver pathway

SSI Open Water Diver is recognised worldwide and certifies you to dive to 18 metres with a buddy. Delivered through the SSI digital platform, it lets you complete theory at your own pace and forms the base for all further SSI training.

Where you'll dive in Perhentian

Training uses the sheltered, shallow bays off Long Beach and Coral Bay before moving to gentle reefs, with warm water around 27-30°C through the March-to-October season and turtles, reef sharks and clownfish frequently seen.
