Course overview

The SSI Open Water Diver course in Hurghada is your gateway to a lifetime of diving, earned in the warm, clear Red Sea on easy reefs that make learning relaxed and enjoyable. Through SSI's digital theory, confined-water sessions and four open-water dives, you build everything needed to dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres. You finish as a fully certified diver with a globally recognised qualification.

What you’ll learn

• Set up, use and care for scuba equipment
• Master core skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Control buoyancy and manage your air supply
• Plan dives using a computer or tables
• Dive safely to 18 metres with a buddy
• Respond to common underwater problems

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior) or 15
• No prior certification required
• Able to swim and be comfortable in the water
• Medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if a condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Complete the SSI digital knowledge reviews and practise core skills in calm, shallow water.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives 1 & 2

   Apply your skills on the first two open-water dives on sheltered Red Sea reefs from the boat.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 3 & 4 & certification

   Complete the final two open-water dives, demonstrate your skills and qualify as an SSI Open Water Diver.
