The SSI Open Water Diver pathway

SSI Open Water Diver qualifies you to dive to 18 metres with a buddy and is delivered through SSI's free digital academics with a lifetime online certification record. It is the prerequisite for Advanced Adventurer, which most Galapagos operators require before the current-heavy flagship sites.

Where you'll dive in Galapagos

Training runs from Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz at sheltered, low-current sites such as Santa Fe and calm bays where sea lions and green turtles gather. The cool water (16-26C) calls for a good wetsuit, and protected shallows keep your first certification away from the strong currents at advanced sites.
