Course overview

Experience Raja Ampat's reefs after sunset with the SSI Night Diving specialty, when octopus, crustaceans and macro life take over the coral. Training on calm house reefs near Mansuar Island, you learn light handling, night navigation and buddy procedures so you can dive confidently in the dark.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe night dives
• Operate primary and backup lights correctly
• Signal and communicate using light at night
• Navigate and keep buddy contact in darkness
• Recognise nocturnal marine-life behaviour
• Manage night entries, exits and orientation

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Open Water Diver or equivalent certification
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Academics and first night dive

   Cover SSI theory and light technique, then complete your first night dive on a calm local reef.
2. Day2
   Second night dive and certification

   Refine night navigation and signalling and finish the dives to certify.
