Course overview

Discover Netrani Island's reef after sunset with the SSI Night Diving & Limited Visibility specialty off Karnataka's Murdeshwar coast. Through SSI's digital training you learn torchlight navigation, communication and safe night-diving procedures, meeting nocturnal hunters like octopus, cuttlefish and active morays. You earn the SSI Night Diving certification.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct dives at night and in limited visibility
• Use dive lights for navigation and communication
• Maintain orientation and buoyancy in the dark
• Manage light failure and reduced-visibility procedures
• Recognise nocturnal marine life on the reef

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Open Water Diver (or a qualifying certification from another agency)
• Comfort with basic navigation and buoyancy
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician where required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & night dives

   Complete the SSI night-diving knowledge sections and briefings, then make guided night training dives on Netrani's reef to a maximum of 18 metres.
