The SSI Navigation specialty builds accurate underwater orientation skills using natural references and a compass, practised on Trincomalee's reefs and rocky sites. Across your training dives around Nilaveli and Pigeon Island you learn to plan routes, estimate distance and relocate features, becoming a more independent and confident diver.

The SSI Underwater Navigation pathway

SSI Navigation counts toward the SSI Advanced Adventurer and Specialty Diver ratings and is a foundation skill that supports many other SSI specialties. Materials are delivered digitally via the DiveSSI app.

You practise navigation over Nilaveli Reef and Pigeon Island Marine Park, where clear, calm water during the the calm May-to-September window, with shoulder months of April and October still diveable makes it easy to learn natural-reference and compass methods.
