Course overview

Extend your time on Coron's deeper wrecks with the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox specialty, a quick and popular course delivered largely through SSI's digital platform. You learn to analyse, plan and dive nitrox safely in warm 27-29C water, gaining valuable extra bottom time on ships such as the Okikawa Maru and Akitsushima. It is one of the most practical specialties a Coron diver can add.

What you’ll learn

• Understand the advantages and limitations of enriched air
• Analyse cylinder oxygen content and program your computer
• Calculate the maximum operating depth for a nitrox mix
• Manage oxygen exposure and avoid toxicity
• Plan dives for longer no-decompression limits
• Follow correct enriched-air cylinder handling and labelling

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• SSI Open Water Diver (or equivalent certification)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Theory & analysis

   Finish the SSI digital theory, practise analysing nitrox cylinders and setting your computer, and optionally make a supervised nitrox dive on a Coron wreck to certify.
