Course overview

Get more from every Cairns reef trip with the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox course, which teaches you to dive nitrox blends for longer no-decompression limits on the Great Barrier Reef. Using SSI's digital learning, you cover gas analysis and dive planning and can certify in a single day, ideal before a liveaboard or day trip to outer sites like Flynn, Milln and Thetford. Extended bottom time means more of those reef sharks, turtles and cuttlefish on multi-dive days.

What you’ll learn

• Calculate maximum operating depth and stay within oxygen exposure limits

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior) or 15
• SSI Open Water Diver or a qualifying entry-level certification
• No prior nitrox experience required
• Diver medical clearance if any health condition applies

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory, gas analysis and reef dives

   Complete the SSI digital nitrox academics, practise analysing cylinders and programming a computer, then optionally apply the skills on enriched-air dives to outer reef sites for longer bottom times.
