Course overview

Take your first professional step with the SSI Divemaster rating, based at Khao Lak on the edge of the Similan Islands marine park. Through the SSI Dive Guide and Divemaster modules you develop guiding, supervision and dive-theory skills on the calm local reefs, then build real experience on national-park trips to the Andaman's renowned sites.

What you’ll learn

• Plan, brief and guide certified divers on real sites
• Assist SSI professionals during training programmes
• Apply advanced dive-theory and the SSI Total Diving System
• Demonstrate scuba skills to demonstration quality
• Carry out dive-site assessment, mapping and risk management
• Complete the watermanship and rescue-assessment exercises

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• SSI Diver Stress & Rescue (or equivalent rescue rating)
• Valid first-aid and CPR (React Right) provider rating
• At least 40 logged dives (SSI experience requirements)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & orientation

   Science of Diving review, dive-theory exams and the watermanship stamina assessment.
2. Day2
   Skills & rescue

   Demonstration-quality skills workshop and the rescue-scenario assessment.
3. Day3
   Practical workshops

   Dive-site mapping and guiding exercises on Khao Lak's local reefs.
4. Day4
   Guiding internship

   Guide and assist on real dives under professional supervision.
5. Day5
   Certification

   Final evaluations and SSI Divemaster certification.
