Course overview

Launch your professional diving career with the SSI Divemaster (Dive Guide pathway) course in the Seychelles, the first SSI leadership rating. You train across Mahe's boulder reefs, marine parks and wrecks, building dive-leadership skills and stamina while learning to guide certified divers safely through Indian Ocean conditions. On completion you can guide certified divers and assist SSI instructors.

What you’ll learn

• Guide and supervise certified divers in open water
• Plan, brief and lead guided dives on tropical reef sites
• Assist SSI instructors during training courses
• Complete water-skills, stamina and rescue-readiness assessments
• Manage dive logistics, environment and group safety
• Apply SSI professional standards and the dive-leadership code

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• SSI Diver Stress and Rescue (or equivalent rescue rating)
• Current React Right (CPR and first aid) certification
• Specialty certifications and the required logged dives per SSI standards
• Medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation & academics

   Programme orientation and SSI digital academic sessions on dive leadership.
2. Day2
   Water-skills evaluation

   Complete stamina swims and the in-water skills assessments.
3. Day3
   Rescue readiness

   Rehearse rescue and problem-management scenarios in open water.
4. Day4
   Guiding practice

   Lead certified-diver groups on Mahe's reefs and map a dive site such as the Coral Garden.
5. Day5
   Practical internship

   Assist instructors and gain guiding experience across reef and wreck sites.
6. Day6
   Assessment & certification

   Final evaluations, debriefs and sign-off as an SSI Divemaster.
