Course overview

Step into your first dive-leadership role with the SSI Divemaster program in Raja Ampat, guiding certified divers through the Coral Triangle's richest reefs. Working from sites such as Cape Kri, Yenbuba Jetty and Blue Magic, you build the briefing skills, stamina and current-reading judgement needed to lead in one of the world's most demanding dive regions.

What you’ll learn

• Guide certified divers and assist SSI professionals on courses
• Plan and brief dives for strong-current Dampier Strait sites
• Demonstrate diving skills to professional standard
• Map dive sites and manage diver groups in the water
• Apply dive-theory across physics, physiology and decompression
• Handle in-water problems and lead emergency responses

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• SSI Diver Stress & Rescue certification
• Current first aid and CPR provider rating
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and meeting SSI dive totals to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and academics

   Programme briefing and SSI Divemaster theory through the digital platform.
2. Day2
   Water-skills assessment

   Complete swim, tow and stamina tests with demonstration-quality skills.
3. Day3
   Leadership workshops

   Practise briefing and guiding certified divers on local reefs.
4. Day4
   Mapping and scenarios

   Map a dive site and run rescue and emergency-management scenarios.
5. Day5
   Certification

   Internship sign-off and the issue of your SSI Divemaster rating.
