Course overview

Step into the dive profession with the SSI Divemaster certification at Netrani Island, the heart-shaped reef reached by boat from Murdeshwar on the Karnataka coast. Through SSI's flexible, performance-based training you build dive-leadership skills, theory and stamina while guiding and assisting on the island's clear, fish-filled boat dives. You graduate as a certified SSI Divemaster, qualified to lead certified divers and support instructors professionally.

What you’ll learn

• Guide certified divers and manage groups on Netrani boat dives
• Apply SSI dive theory: physics, physiology, equipment, decompression and the environment
• Deliver thorough dive briefings and site assessments
• Demonstrate core scuba skills to a professional standard
• Assist an SSI Instructor with students in the water
• Run dive-site mapping and emergency-management scenarios

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• SSI Diver Stress & Rescue certification
• Current first aid and CPR training (SSI React Right or equivalent)
• A logged-dive count that meets SSI experience requirements (typically around 40+ to begin)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation & watermanship

   Programme briefing, digital-platform set-up and the watermanship and stamina evaluations.
2. Day2
   Dive theory

   Work through the SSI knowledge sections and complete the theory assessments.
3. Day3
   Skills & guiding practice

   Refine demonstration-quality skills and practise guiding on boat dives to Netrani Island.
4. Day4
   Leadership scenarios

   Run site mapping, search patterns and emergency-management drills across the reef's 5-to-30-metre range.
5. Day5
   Internship & certification

   Assist on real SSI courses, finish the assessments and certify as an SSI Divemaster.
