Course overview

Earn your first professional rating with the SSI Divemaster course in Malta and Gozo, qualifying you to guide certified divers and assist on training programmes. Working across the islands' shallow reefs and signature wrecks, you build genuine leadership experience in the calm, clear Mediterranean. You graduate as an SSI Divemaster, recognised worldwide.

What you’ll learn

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer / Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• SSI Stress & Rescue (or equivalent rescue certification)
• Valid first aid and CPR certification
• At least 40 logged dives to begin (60 recommended to certify)
• Medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & standards

   Complete SSI Dive Guide and Divemaster academics and dive-theory review through the SSI app.
2. Day2
   Water-skills assessment

   Stamina, rescue and dive-skills demonstration assessments in calm water.
3. Day3
   Dive-leading workshops

   Plan and lead guided dives at Cirkewwa or Gozo shore sites under supervision.
4. Day4
   Mapping & logistics

   Practical dive-management and site-orientation exercises at a local reef.
5. Day5
   Course internship

   Assist an SSI instructor with real students across Malta and Gozo.
