Course overview

Earn your first professional rating with the SSI Divemaster programme on Bangaram Island, guiding certified divers across the coral reefs of India's secluded Lakshadweep atoll resort. In warm, calm 27-30C water you develop dive-leadership skills, theory and stamina through a flexible, experience-based internship. You complete the course with the internationally recognised SSI Divemaster certification.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and lead guided dives for certified divers using SSI methods
• Demonstrate core scuba skills to professional standard
• Assist SSI professionals during training programmes
• Run dive briefings, site mapping and group management
• Apply dive science to real-world dive planning
• Respond to in-water problems and lead emergency procedures

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent
• SSI Diver Stress & Rescue certification
• Current first aid and CPR (e.g. React Right) within 24 months
• Specialty and logged-dive experience meeting SSI requirements (typically 40+ logged dives)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and assessment

   Leadership overview, swim and stamina tests and digital-academics setup.
2. Day2
   Dive science

   Complete SSI dive-science modules and exams through the digital app.
3. Day3
   Demonstration skills

   Polish scuba skills to professional demonstration quality in the lagoon.
4. Day4
   Practical workshops

   Map a reef, practise navigation and run rescue scenarios on Bangaram's sites.
5. Day5
   Guiding internship

   Lead certified divers and assist SSI professionals on the house reefs.
6. Day6
   Final evaluation

   Complete leadership assessments and earn the SSI Divemaster rating.
