Course overview

SSI Try Scuba is a relaxed introduction to diving for complete beginners, with no certification required, set in the warm, calm shallows off Nilaveli. With an instructor at your side you practise a few basic skills before a guided dive on the gentle reefs of Pigeon Island Marine Park, meeting colourful reef fish and corals on your very first underwater adventure.

What you’ll learn

• Clear your mask and recover the regulator
• Move and stay balanced underwater
• Use simple hand signals
• Dive safely with direct instructor support

Prerequisites

• No experience or swimming certification required
• Minimum age 10
• Reasonable general health (a brief medical questionnaire applies)
• Comfortable putting your face in the water

1. Day1
   Try scuba

   After a relaxed briefing and skill practice in the shallows off Nilaveli, take your first guided dive to around 12 metres over the Pigeon Island reefs with your instructor.
