Course overview

Take your first real step into scuba with the SSI Basic Diver program in Rasdhoo Atoll, going beyond a single try-dive to build genuine confidence in warm, clear Maldivian water. You will complete guided dives on sheltered reefs near the island under close supervision, earning the SSI Basic Diver recognition rating and a strong foundation for full certification.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble and use basic scuba equipment with guidance
• Breathe comfortably and equalise on descent
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Control buoyancy and move efficiently underwater
• Communicate with hand signals and stay with your guide
• Dive a reef to shallow recreational limits under supervision

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No experience or swimming certification required
• Able to be comfortable in water
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Skills & first dive

   Equipment briefing and shallow-water skills, then a guided dive on a calm reef such as Veligandu East.
2. Day2
   Second guided dive

   A further supervised reef dive to consolidate skills, then your Basic Diver recognition rating.
