Course overview

Take your first real step toward certification with the SSI Basic Diver programme in Komodo, a foundation course that introduces essential scuba skills before progressing to Open Water Diver. You learn to handle equipment and basic underwater skills in calm water, then dive a sheltered reef under instructor guidance. It is an easy on-ramp to diving in one of the world's finest marine parks.

What you’ll learn

• Set up and check basic scuba equipment
• Breathe comfortably and equalise underwater
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Manage basic buoyancy and underwater movement

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No prior experience or swimming certification required
• Reasonable health and comfort in water
• Brief medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and confined skills

   Work through the MySSI introduction and practise basic scuba skills in calm, shallow water.
2. Day2
   Reef dive and certification

   Apply your skills on a guided dive at a sheltered park reef, then receive your SSI Basic Diver record.
