Course overview

Explore Oman's sunken history with the PADI Wreck Diver specialty in Muscat, where the reefs around Fahal Island and Bandar Khayran hold shipwrecks that have become thriving artificial reefs. Over four dives you learn safe wreck-diving technique, surveying and penetration-line skills among structures encrusted with coral and patrolled by reef fish and the occasional shark. You certify as a PADI Wreck Diver.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe wreck dives within recreational limits
• Survey and map a wreck to create a basic site plan
• Use a penetration line and reel to find your way out
• Recognise and avoid wreck hazards such as entanglement and silt-out
• Manage buoyancy and trim to protect both diver and structure
• Carry and use appropriate wreck-diving equipment and lights

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• Comfortable with buoyancy control in the 18-30m range
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first wrecks

   Cover wreck-diving planning and hazards, then complete the first two survey and mapping dives near Fahal Island.
2. Day2
   Mapping & lines

   Complete the final two dives practising mapping and limited penetration with a guideline, then certify.
