Course overview

Coron is one of the world's great wreck-diving destinations, and the PADI Wreck Diver specialty here lets you explore its sunken WWII Japanese fleet with proper training. Over four dives on ships such as the Olympia Maru, Kogyo Maru and Okikawa Maru you learn safe survey, mapping and penetration techniques in warm 27-29C water. You finish certified to plan and enjoy wreck dives responsibly.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe wreck dives within recreational limits
• Use guidelines and reels for navigation and orientation
• Survey and map a wreck to understand its layout
• Avoid hazards such as entanglement, sharp metal and silt-out
• Apply special finning and buoyancy techniques near a wreck
• Understand the basics of limited-penetration wreck diving

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Open Water Diver (Advanced Open Water recommended for deeper wrecks)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician
• Comfortable with buoyancy control in open water

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Survey & navigation

   Knowledge development, then two dives focused on external survey, reel use and mapping on wrecks such as the Olympia Maru.
2. Day2
   Mapping & limited penetration

   Two further dives covering wreck mapping and the principles of safe, limited penetration on ships such as the Kogyo Maru, then certification.
