Course overview

The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer specialty teaches you to capture great images beneath the surface, and Zanzibar's vibrant reefs are full of subjects. From the macro critters of Stone Town's coral gardens to the wide-angle coral scenes and turtles around Mnemba Atoll, you learn to shoot stills that do the reef justice.

What you’ll learn

• Set up and operate an underwater camera system
• Apply the SEA method for shooting and reviewing images
• Control composition, exposure and lighting underwater
• Manage colour loss and white balance at depth
• Approach marine life without disturbing it
• Capture both macro and wide-angle subjects

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior)
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Good buoyancy control recommended
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Camera & composition

   Theory and your first dive applying the SEA method on a Stone Town reef, focusing on macro subjects and composition.
2. Day2
   Light & wide angle

   A second dive around Mnemba shooting wide-angle reef and marine-life images, then review and editing to certify.
