Course overview

Earn the PADI Scuba Diver certification at Kovalam, a sub-set of the Open Water Diver course that gets you diving in the warm Arabian Sea in less time. You complete the first three knowledge sections, confined-water skills and two open-water dives on the Kovalam reef, finishing qualified to dive to 12 metres with a PADI professional. It is perfect if you are short on time but want a recognised entry-level rating.

What you’ll learn

• Master core skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Control buoyancy and ascend and descend safely
• Plan dives within the recreational limits for supervised divers
• Communicate underwater and dive as a buddy pair with a professional

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior Scuba Diver) or 15
• No prior certification required
• Adequate comfort in water (basic swimming ability recommended)
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and confined water

   Complete the first three knowledge sections and confined-water skills in sheltered shallows.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives

   Make two open-water training dives to around 12 metres over the Kovalam reef and certify as PADI Scuba Diver.
