The PADI Rescue Diver course transforms you into a more confident, self-aware diver who can prevent and manage problems for yourself and others. Practised in the calm, warm waters off Nilaveli and around Pigeon Island, the realistic rescue scenarios are well-suited to Trincomalee's settled east-coast conditions, where good visibility makes it easier to focus on technique. Many divers describe it as the most demanding yet rewarding course they take.
PADI Rescue Diver is the prerequisite for the Divemaster course and counts toward the Master Scuba Diver rating. Current Emergency First Response (or equivalent CPR/first-aid) training within 24 months is required.
Rescue skills and scenarios are practised in the sheltered Nilaveli bays and over the Pigeon Island Marine Park reefs, where the calm the calm May-to-September window, with shoulder months of April and October still diveable provides forgiving conditions for realistic training.
