Course overview

Become a calmer, more capable diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Tarkarli-Malvan, learning to prevent and manage dive emergencies and assist other divers. The sheltered, shallow bay beside Sindhudurg Fort and the calm Konkan conditions make an ideal setting to drill self-rescue, tired-diver tows and missing-diver searches before applying them in open-water scenarios.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and manage diver stress and panic
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver tows
• Search for and surface an unresponsive diver
• Give in-water rescue breaths and exit a casualty
• Plan and coordinate an emergency response
• Prevent problems before they escalate

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver)
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (or equivalent), including the Underwater Navigation dive
• Emergency First Response (CPR and first aid) within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & self-rescue

   Cover accident management and practise self-rescue and stress recognition in the calm shallows.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Drill tired-diver tows, panicked-diver response and in-water rescue breathing in the sheltered bay.
3. Day3
   Open-water scenarios

   Run full missing-diver and unresponsive-diver scenarios on boat-accessed reefs near Sindhudurg Fort.
