Course overview

Become a calmer, more capable diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Rasdhoo Atoll, where moderate channel currents and busy drift sites make self-rescue and buddy-rescue skills genuinely useful. You will learn to anticipate and manage problems in real Maldivian conditions, finishing certified to handle diver emergencies and ready for the professional path that follows.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver tows in open water
• Locate and surface a missing or unresponsive diver
• Provide in-water rescue breaths and manage a surface tow
• Run an emergency action plan and coordinate a response
• Apply rescue thinking to drift and current diving scenarios

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver) or 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (with Underwater Navigation)
• Emergency First Response Primary & Secondary Care within the last 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & self-rescue

   Knowledge reviews, stress recognition and self-rescue practice in sheltered water.
2. Day2
   Rescue exercises

   Work through the ten rescue skills, including tired-diver tows and surfacing an unresponsive diver.
3. Day3
   Scenarios in open water

   Complete the two rescue scenarios at reef sites such as Holhi Faru, then review and certify.
