Course overview

The PADI Rescue Diver course in Muscat transforms you into a calmer, more capable diver who can prevent and manage problems for yourself and others. Practising on the boat-access reefs of Bandar Khayran and around Fahal Island, you rehearse tired-diver tows, panicked-diver responses and missing-diver searches in the warm, generally calm waters of the Gulf of Oman. You finish certified as a PADI Rescue Diver, a key step toward professional ratings.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent dive emergencies before they escalate
• Assist tired, panicked and unresponsive divers at the surface
• Conduct in-water rescue breathing and surface tows
• Search for and recover a missing diver
• Manage a diving accident and coordinate emergency response
• Bring an unresponsive diver to the boat and provide care

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver under 15)
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (with Underwater Navigation completed)
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & self-rescue

   Complete knowledge reviews and practise self-rescue and stress recognition in confined water.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Work through the ten rescue exercises, from tired-diver tows to surface rescue breathing, at a sheltered Muscat site.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & certification

   Run full rescue scenarios on a boat dive at Bandar Khayran, then certify as a Rescue Diver.
