Course overview

Become a calmer, more capable diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Krabi, learning to prevent and manage problems in the water on the Andaman reefs around Ao Nang. Over scenario-based dives you practise self-rescue, assisting tired or panicked divers and handling a simulated unresponsive-diver emergency in the warm 27-30°C sea. You finish certified as a PADI Rescue Diver, ready for leadership training.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent diver stress and in-water problems
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver tows
• Respond to panicked divers at and below the surface
• Manage a missing-diver search and unresponsive-diver recovery
• Give in-water rescue breaths and surface a non-breathing diver
• Run effective emergency-management and oxygen-delivery procedures

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver) or 15 for Rescue Diver
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (or qualifying equivalent)
• Emergency First Response (Primary and Secondary Care) within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & EFR

   Complete the knowledge reviews and, if needed, the Emergency First Response first-aid and CPR training.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Practise self-rescue and assist techniques in confined and shallow water near Ao Nang.
3. Day3
   Open-water scenarios

   Run full rescue scenarios on the local Andaman reefs, including an unresponsive-diver recovery.
