Course overview

Become a more confident, capable diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Key Largo, learning to prevent and manage problems in the warm, current-fed waters of the Florida Keys. You practise self-rescue, assisting tired or panicked divers and managing missing-diver and unresponsive-diver scenarios from the same charter boats that run Pennekamp's reefs. This is the certification that turns a good diver into a calm, prepared one.

PADI Rescue Diver is a prerequisite for the Divemaster rating and a recognised step toward professional training. Current Emergency First Response (or equivalent CPR and first-aid) training is required and is often completed as part of the course.

Where you'll dive in Key Largo

Rescue scenarios are staged on calm, accessible Key Largo reef sites within John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, where shallow depths and warm water (22-29C) keep the focus on technique. The forgiving April-to-October conditions make it an ideal place to rehearse emergency response.
