Develop the skills to prevent and manage diving emergencies with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Hikkaduwa. Across calm reef and shallow-water training on Sri Lanka's south coast, you learn to recognise and respond to diver stress, perform tired-diver tows and run a missing-diver scenario. Widely described as the most rewarding PADI course, it certifies you as a Rescue Diver and is a required step toward professional ratings.
PADI Rescue Diver is a prerequisite for the Divemaster rating and the wider professional pathway. Current Emergency First Response (or equivalent CPR and first-aid) training within the last 24 months is required before certification.
Rescue exercises run on Hikkaduwa's sheltered house reef and shallow coral gardens, where calm 27-29°C water and easy entries through the November-to-April season give a safe, controlled setting to practise tows, searches and surfacing drills.
