Course overview

Become a more confident, capable diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Coron, where varied wrecks and reefs make a realistic backdrop for emergency-management practice. You learn to prevent and handle problems in the water across sheltered sites such as the Lusong Gunboat in warm 27-29C conditions. Often described as the most rewarding PADI course, Rescue Diver is also the gateway to professional training.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent diving emergencies before they escalate
• Manage tired, panicked and unresponsive divers at the surface
• Conduct underwater searches and bring a diver to the surface
• Deliver in-water rescue breaths and exit an unresponsive diver
• Run an emergency action plan and coordinate a response
• Provide first aid for pressure-related and other dive injuries

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver) or 15 for full certification
• PADI Adventure Diver with Underwater Navigation, or equivalent
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician
• Comfortable in open water with basic skills mastered

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & self-rescue

   Complete the knowledge development and exam, then practise self-rescue and tired-diver techniques.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Work through the ten rescue exercises, including managing panicked and unresponsive divers, on a sheltered site.
3. Day3
   Rescue scenarios

   Apply everything in two full rescue scenarios on local Coron sites and complete certification.
