Course overview

The PADI Rescue Diver course in Bohol Panglao transforms you into a more confident, aware diver able to prevent and manage problems in the water and assist others. Practising scenario-based rescues from Alona Beach and on Panglao's reefs, you build the skills that make the Philippines' wall and drift dives at Balicasag safer and more enjoyable.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and manage diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver tows on the surface
• Search for and surface an unresponsive diver from depth
• Deliver in-water rescue breaths and manage a panicked diver
• Plan and coordinate an emergency response at a dive site
• Administer first aid for pressure-related and marine injuries

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver) or 15+ for Rescue Diver
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and self-rescue

   Complete knowledge development and practise self-rescue and stress-recognition skills.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Work through tired-diver tows, panicked-diver management and surfacing techniques in the shallows off Alona Beach.
3. Day3
   Missing and unresponsive diver

   Practise underwater searches and bringing an unresponsive diver to the surface with rescue breaths.
4. Day4
   Scenarios and assessment

   Run full emergency scenarios on Panglao's reefs and complete the rescue assessments.
