Course overview

Transform how you dive with the PADI Rescue Diver course on Ambergris Caye, learning to prevent and manage problems on the Belize Barrier Reef. Practising self-rescue and diver-assistance scenarios in the clear, sheltered water inside the reef off San Pedro, you finish a more confident, aware diver ready for leadership-track training.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent dive emergencies before they escalate
• Perform self-rescue and manage diver stress
• Assist tired and panicked divers at the surface and underwater
• Search for and surface an unresponsive diver
• Provide in-water rescue breaths and exit techniques
• Plan and coordinate an emergency-response action

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver)
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (with Underwater Navigation)
• Emergency First Response training within the past 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Knowledge & self-rescue

   Complete the theory and practise self-rescue and stress-management skills in calm shallows near San Pedro.
2. Day2
   Rescue scenarios

   Run the ten rescue exercises and the two open-water assessment scenarios at sheltered reef sites inside the barrier reef.
