Course overview

Become a fully certified diver with the PADI Open Water Diver course in the Seychelles, the world's most popular entry-level certification. You train in the calm, sheltered waters near Beau Vallon on Mahe before completing open-water dives on coral gardens and granite-boulder reefs alive with turtles, reef fish and rays. On completion you are qualified to dive to 18 metres with a buddy anywhere in the world.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, use, maintain and stow scuba equipment
• Perform all essential safety and emergency skills
• Descend, ascend, equalise and control your buoyancy
• Clear a mask, recover a regulator and share air
• Plan dives using tables or a dive computer
• Dive independently with a certified buddy to 18 metres

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water) or 15 for the full rating
• No prior experience required
• Able to swim 200 metres and float/tread water for 10 minutes
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if indicated)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Knowledge development and the first confined-water skills in the sheltered shallows near Beau Vallon.
2. Day2
   Confined-water mastery

   Complete the remaining confined-water skills and prepare for the open ocean.
3. Day3
   First open-water dives

   Two open-water training dives on Mahe's coral gardens, applying your skills with marine life around you.
4. Day4
   Open-water dives & exam

   Two final open-water dives on the granite-boulder reefs, the theory exam, and certification.
