Course overview

Earn your PADI Open Water Diver certification on Thailand's Phi Phi Islands and join the ranks of divers licensed to explore independently to 18 metres worldwide. Training combines knowledge development and confined-water skills in calm, sheltered bays with four open-water dives on Phi Phi's coral gardens and limestone walls. You leave with a globally recognised licence and the islands as your first dive memories.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, check and maintain scuba equipment
• Achieve neutral buoyancy and control depth precisely
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator underwater
• Plan dives within no-decompression limits using tables or a computer
• Manage air supply and respond to common problems
• Navigate and conduct safe ascents and safety stops

Prerequisites

• No prior experience or certification required
• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver) or 15 for the full certification
• Able to swim and float comfortably in water
• Reasonable health (PADI medical questionnaire; physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Complete knowledge development and your first skills in calm, sheltered shallows by the island.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives 1-2

   Apply your skills on shallow Phi Phi reefs as you make your first open-water training dives.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 3-4

   Build depth and confidence to 18 metres on the coral gardens and walls.
4. Day4
   Assessment & certification

   Demonstrate skills and pass the final exam to earn your Open Water Diver card.
