Course overview

Become a certified diver with the PADI Open Water Diver course in Muscat, the world's most recognised entry-level certification, earned in Oman's warm and welcoming coastal water. You complete knowledge development, confined-water sessions and four open-water dives at sheltered reefs around Bandar Khayran and the Daymaniyat Islands, qualifying you to dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres anywhere in the world. It is the gateway to Oman's whale sharks, turtles and coral reefs.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, check and use a full set of scuba equipment
• Master essential skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Achieve neutral buoyancy and control your ascents and descents
• Plan dives with tables or a computer within no-decompression limits
• Respond to common problems and share air with a buddy
• Dive independently with a buddy to a maximum of 18 metres

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver 10-14)
• Able to swim and float / tread water comfortably
• No prior certification or experience required
• Complete the diver medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & eLearning

   Work through the knowledge-development sections and complete the final exam.
2. Day2
   Confined-water skills

   Practise all core scuba skills in confined water at a sheltered Muscat site.
3. Day3
   First open-water dives

   Apply your skills on two open-water dives at a Bandar Khayran reef.
4. Day4
   Final dives & certification

   Complete the final two open-water dives, possibly at the Daymaniyat Islands, then certify as an Open Water Diver.
