Course overview

The PADI Open Water Diver course in Alor is your gateway to a globally recognised certification, letting you dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres. Training combines theory, confined-water skills and four open-water dives on Alor's sheltered reefs, where colourful coral and macro life like nudibranchs and mandarinfish make learning genuinely memorable.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, use and maintain scuba equipment
• Master all core skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Achieve precise neutral buoyancy
• Plan dives using tables or a computer
• Perform safe descents, ascents and safety stops to 18 metres
• Handle common problems and basic self-rescue

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water for 10-14)
• No prior experience required
• Able to swim 200 metres and float/tread water for 10 minutes
• Basic comfort and confidence in water
• Able to complete a diver medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Complete the knowledge reviews and practise all core skills in confined or shallow water until they feel natural.
2. Day2
   First open-water dives

   Apply your skills on your first two open-water dives at a sheltered Alor reef, getting comfortable at depth.
3. Day3
   Final dives & certification

   Complete your final two open-water dives, exploring Alor's coral and macro life before earning your certification.
