Course overview

Discover the reef after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty in Fiji, where Beqa Lagoon's soft-coral pinnacles transform once the sun sets and nocturnal hunters emerge. Across three night dives you learn light handling, night navigation and communication while spotting sleeping reef fish, lobster, octopus and the glow of bioluminescence. It certifies you to plan and lead night dives.

What you’ll learn

• Plan, organise and conduct night dives safely
• Handle and signal with a primary and backup dive light
• Navigate and maintain orientation in the dark
• Communicate with light and touch signals at night
• Identify nocturnal marine life and night-active behaviour
• Manage entries, exits and buddy contact after dark

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior) or 15
• PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician where required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first night dive

   Cover night-diving theory and light handling, then make your first guided night dive on a sheltered reef.
2. Day2
   Navigation & final night dives

   Complete two more night dives focusing on navigation and nocturnal marine life, finishing the assessment.
