Course overview

Discover the reef after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty on Ambergris Caye, where the Belize Barrier Reef takes on a different character at night. Off San Pedro you learn light handling, night navigation and communication while spotting nocturnal life such as sleeping sharks, eels and hunting predators along the reef.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct dives safely after dark
• Use primary and backup dive lights effectively
• Communicate with light signals at night
• Navigate and maintain orientation in low light
• Enter, exit and control buoyancy at night
• Identify nocturnal marine behaviour and life

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfortable with basic buoyancy and navigation
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician
